About Us

Built by people
who give a damn.

Together was founded to make sign language communication as effortless as a phone call — for everyone, everywhere, with no intermediary and no waiting.

Our mission

Communication is a human right. Yet 466 million people worldwide live with disabling hearing loss, and the vast majority of the hearing world does not know sign language. Together exists to close that gap — not by replacing human interpreters, but by filling the enormous space where no interpreter is available: the pharmacy counter, the classroom question, the lunch table conversation, the job interview.

We believe on-device AI is the right architecture for this problem. Your camera feed should never leave your device. Your conversations are private. Your autonomy is preserved.

Our story

Together started as our final-year graduation project in Computer Engineering. We wanted to tackle a real accessibility gap: no good, privacy-respecting, browser-native sign language translator existed for Arabic Sign Language.

We built the full stack ourselves — MediaPipe landmark detection, a TFLite model for ASL with a 250-class vocabulary, a PyTorch CNN-GRU for Egyptian ArSL, a WebRTC live meeting layer, and a bilingual Arabic-first UI. Everything runs in the browser. No server ever sees your camera feed.

The team

Together is a graduation project by four 5th-year Computer Engineering students. We built it because we believe communication is a right — and we wanted to prove that browser-native AI can close real accessibility gaps, without cloud uploads, without interpreters on standby, and without a startup budget.

ML & Computer Vision

TFLite model pipeline, MediaPipe landmark extraction, and the ASL recognition engine.

Backend & WebRTC

FastAPI server, Socket.IO live meeting layer, authentication, and API design.

Arabic NLP & ArSL

PyTorch CNN-GRU for Egyptian ArSL, Arabic dataset annotation, and RTL UI engineering.

Frontend & Design System

Design system, Jinja2 templates, accessibility audit, and glass-morphic UI components.

Our values

Privacy first

All AI runs on your device. No video leaves your browser. No user data is sold or shared.

Language equality

ASL and ArSL receive equal investment. No sign language is an afterthought on this platform.

Community co-design

Deaf and HoH community members sit on our advisory board and participate in every major product decision.

Open science

We publish our research, share our annotation tools, and contribute to public datasets wherever legally possible.
