Type anything.
Watch it sign.
SignType renders any typed or pasted text as a smooth, frame-perfect sign language animation — in ASL or ArSL — using a WebGL avatar running entirely in your browser.
Capabilities at a glance
How it works
SignType tokenizes input text into words and looks each up in a pre-built sign animation library. Known words play their recorded motion capture clip; unknown words fall back to fingerspelling. A lightweight NLP preprocessor handles contractions, numbers, and common phrase shortcuts (e.g., "don't know" → the ASL idiom rather than three separate signs).
The avatar is rendered with Three.js on a WebGL canvas. Skeleton data is streamed frame-by-frame from an animation queue, with IK-solved transitions between signs to prevent jarring joint snaps. The result feels natural and readable at comfortable signing speeds.
Use cases
Brands record their marketing copy as sign language video using SignType — no human signer required for every cut.
Students see how any word or sentence looks in sign. Teachers project SignType output for class reference.
Transit, museum, and government kiosks embed SignType to deliver information in sign language without video hosting.
Type a reply and share a SignType clip directly in a chat. Hearing friends see text; Deaf recipients see sign.
