Signs that
speak for you.
VoiceBridge converts live ASL directly to natural spoken speech — so you can communicate with hearing people face to face, without a phone screen between you.
Performance at a glance
How it works
VoiceBridge chains HandScript's recognition output directly into the Web Speech Synthesis API. As HandScript emits a confident prediction (above the configurable confidence threshold), VoiceBridge queues the word or phrase for speech. The synthesis uses the browser's built-in TTS voices — no external API call is made, preserving offline capability.
A 200ms phoneme-based debounce prevents partial signs from triggering early utterances. Sentence boundaries are detected heuristically by sign-pause gaps longer than 600ms, at which point the buffered text is flushed as a complete utterance with natural prosody.
Use cases
Ask for a medication, describe symptoms, or follow up on results — hands-free, voice-forward, without paper.
Navigate airports, train stations, and government counters with confidence. VoiceBridge speaks your signs to staff.
Retail, banking, and food service counters equipped with a tablet running VoiceBridge become accessible to Deaf customers instantly.
Dinner tables, parties, casual hallway chats — VoiceBridge makes spontaneous conversation natural again.
Voice customization
VoiceBridge exposes the full Web Speech API voice roster — on most platforms this includes a dozen or more natural-sounding voices across genders and accents. The selected voice and speech rate are persisted to localStorage. A dedicated Voice panel in the dashboard settings lets users audition each option.
